Doesn't seem like there are privacy settings, but there are filters? You can filter to a group and stuff like that. Don't know why you want to or not. I can tell you how to flip off notifications or set up pings for certain people posting or w/e. Also, profile images still won't let you change them out. No one seems to know why.

Dude, tragic backstories can range from a lot of different things. Someone getting their favorite bike stolen on their 11th birthday and swearing revenge against all bike thieves can count as a tragic backstory.
Not really. There are a lot of people who come from backgrounds that the majority would consider "tragic" but the person themselves are so accustomed to it that they'd just shrug it off. So it might just be a matter of perspective, I guess??
