Alice Penelope Drake Depends what you mean by Dark Ages Alice Penelope Drake The whole Medieval Period had its ups and downs depending where you were. Alice Penelope Drake But generally the more things were divided up into feuding barons and earls the worse it got. Alice Penelope Drake Of course then with strong monarchies you had a strong chance of a succession war splitting everything up again. Or an incompetent king wasting everyone's resources (hi Richard I) Alice Penelope Drake Basically people needed to get over themselves and never really did that consistently.
