Oh! I don't always carry them around. I've been scrapbooking a lot lately and making collages for gifts! So when I have some free time, I can just...

[ they do seem to be snipping, while simultaneously giving some trouble. some of the garland keeps wrapping around the hand she's cutting with, but the pieces she is snipping at seem to be getting undone. ]

[ They are going to die before they get free. Chiyo's alarmed when she notices the garland wrapping around her hand (in defense, it seems), but she can't stop midway in her task. She'll have to worry about this new trap after she's done. One task at a time, or she'll just get into a frenzied panic. ]

It's not just an old people thing.... I think it's fun, and it's rewarding to record all the things you and your friends do? I can make cute decorations and use cute stickers, too. Have you tried it before?

You don't have to be! It's more about feelings and what you'd like to note about a picture or your memories. You don't need to dress it up with a lot of stickers and fancy paper, if that's not what you want.

[ She snips through the garland she was working on, but that doesn't count for the garland that's wrapped around her hand while she was working. She stares at the new problem for a second. ]

We might get frostbite before we get free.

Eating the most gingerbread cookies in the span of five minutes, being really rich, not having to deal with Retrospec bullshit, and being the first person to punch the sun and live.

No! There are thousands-- no, goddamn millions of brighter, cooler stars out there! The sun isn't special. It should be fucking ashamed of itself for how much it flaunts its UV rays around as if it created the concept of habitual life.

[ Chiyo stares blankly at Karkat for a full moment. She's not sure why he's so heated about this? The sun hasn't done anything to him personally, she doesn't think. Is it something from his Retrospec memories?

She decides to work on completely cutting through the garlands while thinking of a response. ]

Um, if our sun has a solar system, I think those other stars have solar systems, too, probably? I'm not great at science, so I don't really know how it works, but... I don't think any stars really... flaunt their rays? But that could just be me....?

[ She's trying to be very careful with her words. ]

Chiyo. I want you to look up, right now, and tell me what you see.

[ he says this so seriously, as if daring her not to look up. ]

Um... Okay?

[ She shields her eyes so she's not directly looking at the sun, but she looks up, as directed. ]

I see the sun shining and some clouds.

Ha! But you're too scared to look at it without some sort of shielding. Do you know why? You're aware of the evil that lurks within.

[ he sounds very smug. ]

It's not evil! It can't help that it's too bright to look at safely. Are you really going to hold that against it? It was born that way!

[ The sun is now a living thing with feelings because of this argument. ]
